Healing Experiences
This is a new section dedicated to specific Health issues and in particular sharing self-healing experiences. If you have experienced self healing in your life please submit an article outlining your story and I will be glad to share it with others on this page.
I begin with my own story.
"Healing my life, healed my body" - Fibroid Tumours
Charlie's story.
"Overcoming Endometriosis" - Endometriosis
If you are facing a health challenge
For anyone reading this who maybe in a quandary about what to do regarding their own health problem, I have some understanding of how frightening and daunting it can be. Since my experience (click on the link above to read my story) I have gone on to take Advanced Louise Hay Teacher Training so that I can take people through the same process I went through and help them on their healing path. As a result of my training and my experience and the experiences of others I have helped and been involved with, I have produced a plan of action for you to take back control of your life and your body with the ultimate goal of healing your life.
Obviously the first thing to do is get a proper diagnosis by
visiting your doctor and then an appropriate consultant/specialist.
I have found on many occasions in my life regarding health matters that
knowledge really is power, so read and research as much as you can yourself so that you
fully understand your condition and diagnosis and can ask relevant questions as well
as understand the answers. It is so easy to believe that doctors know best. They
have a good deal of knowledge and experience, however they cannot possibly keep up to
date with new medical developments in procedures and treatments and tend to
stick to what they know of old. There are some wonderful healthcare professionals around
but likewise there are many who do not see patients as whole people but rather as
symptoms to be treated or bits to be removed.
If you do not get to the bottom of why you are experiencing this health problem
and you remove it surgically it will return, either in that location or elsewhere in
the body and possibly more seriously.
Stop for a moment and consider that your body created this condition and so it
is not so very “off the wall” to suggest that your body can also dissolve the condition
or heal itself. The body can usually only communicate distress or dis-ease to you via
pain or physical signs, therefore to ignore them or just get rid of the symptoms puts
the body under more pressure to get your attention to the real problem.
Surgery has its place and is very valuable especially when a condition is
extremely far advanced and time is short to clear it safely. But I do urge you if this is not
the case, to try, whilst still seeing your medical professionals, to
look within for the
answers to your health problem. Read Louise Hays’ book “You Can Heal Your Life”, practise
the exercises and affirmations. The book can be obtained from the library, so
what have you got to lose and on the other hand you have your health to gain.
Take responsibility for yourself, take back your own power and listen to your
own body, you have all you need within. Learn a new way with regard to taking care
of your health and your body. Start to develop your spiritual side. You already
know some of the things you need to do to lead a healthier life, make it as much fun
as you can. Take time out to do things you love, some of which you may not have done
for years.
Right now as you read this just take in a series of deep breaths and let them
out slowly and just notice how different your body feels.
Breathing fully is crucial
to health. Relaxation is really important together with meditation and
there are various groups you could join, or just pop into a local yoga class. We
tend to tense parts of our body as a response to physical and emotional stress.
Some people subconsciously tense the pelvic muscles, which blocks the blood flow
and cuts off the supply of nutrients to our organs. When the oxygen levels drop
in the muscles, lactic acid is produced which causes cramping & discomfort. The
muscles should have a good blood flow to and from them in order to help toxins
to be removed.
My Basic Plan for Health
- See your doctor for diagnosis and advice
- Get referred to an appropriate consultant/specialist as soon as possible (if you can manage it then pay to have an appointment sooner)
- Read and research as much as you can about your condition and the various treatments
- Start making changes to diet and lifestyle to assist your healing
- Read Louise Hays’ book “You Can Heal Your Life” and practise the affirmations and exercises daily, clearing negative thoughts and emotions as well as past hurts, anger and resentment. If you find it difficult alone then get a friend to help, find a trained professional, or go on an intensive workshop.
- Positive thoughts about your own healing and situation are key, use affirmations to support yourself.
- Keep an open mind, depending on the seriousness of your condition, consider allowing your body time to heal itself whilst still being in contact with your doctor/consultant. If necessary to have surgery then prepare for a positive outcome and work on self healing before, during and afterwards.
- Meditation, relaxation and deep breathing are extremely beneficial. Join a group, take up pilates, yoga or use meditation tapes if you find it difficult. The key to good meditating is to put the body into a relaxed state and clear the mind of all thought (it comes with practise) and then just ask quietly to yourself “What is it I need to know”, then just stay quiet and relaxed for at least ten minutes. - Find a good Nutritionist, Reflexologist, Aroma-therapist, Shiatsu or other alternative practitioner and have regular appointments. There are many alternative therapies that you could try. Any time taken purely for your own care will pay you back with increasing feelings of well-being.
- Learn to see yourself as whole and healthy, bringing together all facets of self – mind, body, spirit and emotions, rather than just a physical condition. For complete healing to take place requires work on all four aspects of self.
